Spotify Now-Playing

Show the track you're listening to on stream with a polished now-playing overlay — connect with one click via Spotify, or read it locally with no API key at all.

Overview

VMSC can display your current Spotify track — title, artist, album art, and a live progress bar — as an OBS overlay widget. There are two ways to connect, so you can pick zero-config convenience or zero-API-key simplicity.

Two Connection Modes

Spotify Web API (recommended)

Log in once through your browser with Spotify's secure OAuth flow. VMSC uses a built-in client ID, so there's nothing to register — just click connect. Gives you accurate track data, album art, and precise progress.

Local Window Reader

No login, no API key. VMSC reads the Spotify desktop app's window title to detect the current "Artist – Track", plus playing/paused/advert state. Lighter, fully offline, with estimated progress.

Setting It Up

  1. Open the Spotify Page

    Go to the Spotify page in VMSC.

  2. Connect

    Click Connect with Spotify to use the Web API (a browser window opens for login), or switch to Local mode to read the desktop app with no login.

  3. Add the Overlay Widget

    In the Overlay editor, add the Spotify widget and position it. Add the overlay as a browser source in OBS (or TikTok LIVE Studio) and your now-playing card appears on stream.

  4. Style It

    Customize colors, layout, and whether to show album art and the progress bar to match your scene.

Which mode should I use?

Use the Web API for the best accuracy and album art. Use Local mode if you'd rather not log in at all and only need the track name on screen.
